Baby Development This Week

Your baby is becoming more responsive to the outside world. They may move or kick in response to your voice or loud noises. The startle reflex (Moro reflex) is developing. More hair is growing on the head, and the body is still covered in fine lanugo hair. The nostrils are beginning to open, and your baby is practicing breathing movements more regularly. Blood vessels in the lungs are developing, and the pulmonary vascular system is maturing.

Changes in Your Body

You might be experiencing more round ligament pain as your belly grows. Some women develop symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), which causes pain in the pelvic area. Your growing belly is putting pressure on your back, and you may need to adjust your sitting and sleeping positions. You might be experiencing more frequent urination again as the baby presses on your bladder. Heartburn and indigestion are common as the uterus pushes on the stomach.
