Baby Development This Week

There is still no baby during week 2, but your body is preparing for conception. A mature egg is developing in one of your ovaries and will soon be released during ovulation. The uterine lining continues to thicken, creating a welcoming environment for a fertilized egg to implant.

Changes in Your Body

You may notice increased cervical mucus that becomes clear and stretchy around ovulation, which helps sperm travel to the egg. Your basal body temperature may dip slightly before rising after ovulation. Some women experience mild ovulation pain, known as mittelschmerz, on one side of the lower abdomen.
